The people of Katherine and surrounds went bananas at the 2010 Katherine Family Fun & Information Day held on Thursday, July 15th, soaking up the live performances of Bananas in Pyjamas, Miffy, Amazing Christo the Magician and George Spartels.
Aside from the entertainment, families were able to enjoy a good sausage sizzle whilst finding out information about community services that service the Katherine Region.

The Governor General, Her Excellency Ms. Quentin Bryce and husband Mr. Michael Bryce visited the K.I.C.S office on May 11th accompanied by an entourage of interesting people. Her Excellency was very engaging and expressed a sincere interest in early childhood and children in general. Her knowledge on the subject was quite apparent as she chatted to the small gathering of K.I.C.S staff members, Board members and families. Peta spoke at length with Her Excellency explaining the K.I.C.S function within the community and Sue Holder the NT State President of the Isolated Children's Parents' Association had the opportunity to discuss ICPA issues.
The highlight of the visit was when her Excellency sat down on a tiny chair (in a pencil skirt and high heels) to play a game of Fiddle Sticks with the small group of children gathered. Mr. Bryce expertly cuddled the babies and felt quite at home as well. An hour later they waved farewell and headed to their next engagement. It was a lovely occasion and K.I.C.S felt quite honored to have been a part of the Governor General's Katherine visit.

2009 has been a year of change, but also another good year for K.I.C.S, with two teams providing Playgroups for the whole year. With Dan finishing up in April, (who would have thought making coffee would be better than Playgroups!!), this really did leave quite a hole to fill. Thanks to Noel for coming along and assisting me to ensure that the bush runs continued for the year- I couldn't have done it without him.
